Bhubaneswar Airport which is actually known by the name Biju Patnaik International Airport is located around 3 kilometers from the heart of the city Bhubaneswar and is also the only international airport in Odisha. The airport was named after the ex-chief minister of state who was also a freedom fighter and aviator in his time. The airport has also been ranked 19th on the list of busiest airports in India by the Airport Authority of India.

The airport consists of two terminals T1 and T2 of which T2 is the old terminal and has been upgraded for international duty whereas the terminal T1 is newly constructed and used for domestic operation. The new terminal has two aerobridge and has a variety of lounges, food counters, art gallery and bookshops to keep the passengers occupied. The terminal is totally environment friendly and is has water treatment and sewage treatment plants.

The airport has been awarded with many accolades and was also named the best airport in January- July 2012 along with Thiruvanthapuram airport. It was also awarded the best airport in India stature on grounds of customer satisfaction index 2012-2013.

The airport service includes India oil, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan petroleum as fuellers then Mayfair group and Pal Heights as caterers. The government of India awarded the international status to the airport on 30th October, 2013 for its facilities and amenities provided to the customers. Bhubaneswar Airport has been operating in a very organized manner and is one of the best airports in the eastern region currently.
